On 24 November 2022, a fire broke out in a residential high-rise apartment building in a Uyghur-majority neighborhood in Ürümqi, Xinjiang, China. 

What people fail to understand is that this is not a natural disaster but a man-made tragedy. Victims were trapped in the high-rise building due to strict COVID-19 policy that blocked the fire escape.

Shall we save the cat or save the Mona Lisa in a fire? Is the power of authority really worth the cost of living lives?

In remembrance of the lost ones, I wrote this blog. We are not to be forgetting the mistakes we made in the history.
